To carry a phone that turns into a tablet feels futuristic. Their thickness, however, always irritated me as a constant. Like carrying two phones stacked together! I was therefore quite happy to learn about the Oppo Find N5, the thinnest foldable phone available worldwide.
What Then Distinguishes This Phone in Particular?
Allow me to dissect it for your perusal:
- Find N5 is slimmer than last year’s Honor Magic V3 at just 8.93mm when closed. Unfolded, it turns out to be just 4.21mm at its slimmest point!
- Oppo has nearly made the crease on the foldable screen virtually undetectable. You know how frustrating that crease can be if you have ever used a foldable phone.
- Oddly, Oppo crammed a 5,600mAh battery, allowing consumers almost two days of use on one charge.
- Driven by a 7-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite CPU together with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage, top-tier performance is evident.
- Promising flagship-level photography are Hasselblad cameras: the 50MP main sensor, 50MP telephoto lens, and 12MP ultrawide camera.
- Missing from the previous model, the Find N3, was wireless charging. Oppo now has it incorporated.
Why Not Everyone Can Buy It?
Though initially thrilled about the Find N5, my excitement waned upon learning it would not be launched in the US. The sister brand of Oppo, OnePlus, indicated that US consumers would have to sit this one out since they won’t be releasing a folding phone this year.
That’s disheartening as the Find N3 did release in the US as the OnePlus Open. Though many expected Oppo would use the same approach, sadly, that is not the case this time.
- First release confirmed in Singapore on February 28, 2025
- Only consumers in Europe and Asia can now get the Find N5
What Is the Cost?

Things become intriguing here. About $1,867 USD, the Oppo Find N5 costs 2,499 SGD. In Singapore, that is more costly than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold or Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. When you contrast features and storage, though, the price difference is not really great.
Profile Comparison:
Feature | Oppo Find N5 | Samsung Galaxy Z Fold | Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold |
---|---|---|---|
Thickness – Closed | 8.9mm | 11.1mm | 10.5mm |
Thickness – Open | 4.2mm | 5.8mm | 6.2mm |
Processor | Snapdragon 8 Elite | Qualcomm 8 Gen 3 | Tensor G3 |
Battery Capacity | 5,600mAh | 4,600mAh | 4,800mAh |
Wireless Charging | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Main Camera | 50MP | 50MP | 48MP |
Storage | 512GB | 512GB | 256GB |
Price (USD) | $1,867 | $1,699 | $1,699 |
Conclusion: Should You Purchase It?
The Oppo Find N5 is worth looking at if you live in Europe or Asia and wish for the thinnest foldable phone. Among the best folding phones available, this one boasts:
- Long battery life
- No-crease display
- Elegant design
However, if you live in the US, you’re out of luck. Furthermore, warranty and software updates could be problems even if you could import it.
What then, in your opinion? Is the Oppo Find N5 simply another costly gimmick or the future of foldable phones? Tell me in the Comments!
